Eric Nelson - the Swedes of the Pacific Northwest
In the far northwestern corner of the Lower 48 states is Washington, with Seattle as its epicenter. A city (and state) notably shaped by Scandinavian immigrants and Swedish heritage.
How did they find their way all the way out here? And what about the area made people cross oceans, prairies, mountains, and deserts to get here?
I met with Eric Nelson, former Executive Director of the National Nordic Museum in Seattle, to find out.
Join us as we talk about Sweden's legacy in Washington, his Swedish heritage, and his eighteen years as director of the museum - an assignment that has awarded him a knightly title from each of the five Nordic countries.
- What is it like to hold all these medals?
